January 25 – Day of the navigator of the Navy Russia
Every year on January 25 in Russian professional holiday – Day of the navigators Russian Navy – military, whose activities are directly related to the plotting of ships, vessels and aircraft of the Navy, the calculation of displacement and control of correct operation of navigation devices.

But since 1997, according to the order of the Commander of the Navy of the Russian Federation № 253 dated 15 July 1996 “On the introduction of annual holidays and professional days in the specialty” Day of the navigator of the Navy marks the 25th of January, the day of foundation of navigation service of the Russian Navy.
The need for training of local captains and navigators came with the start of construction in the Russian navy. Implementation of this idea was the creation in Moscow School of Mathematical and Navigational Sciences in the Sukharev Tower.
